Groove Addicts Scores for Emmy Winning Reality Series

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition producers Mike Malloy and Christiane Kirsch
Groove Addicts Scores for Emmy Winning Reality Series Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (ABC), the hit reality series whose theme and score were composed by Groove Addicts, landed a 2005 Emmy for Best Reality Program. Series' producers Mike Malloy and Christiane Kirsch accepted the award at the 57th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, beating out contenders Antiques Roadshow (PBS), Penn & Teller: Bulls--t! (Showtime), Project Greenlight (Bravo) and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy (Bravo.)

Groove Addicts composers Tony Philips and Dain Blair created the theme song for the series, entitled "It's Unbelievable," which reflects the show's combined focus on major home overhauls plus the human interest story behind each episode. "We worked hard to create a theme song that captures the essence of the show, which is a wonderful kind of fairy tale series about human - as well as bricks and mortar - transformation," Says Groove Addicts Dain Blair. "We were fortunate to have such great producers to work with." In addition to the theme, Dain Blair and Brad Chiet scored episodes for the 2004-2005 season. The Locker's The Limit On Limited, Too

The junior-high halls are crowded with kids going to their lockers between classes. A group of stylish girls chat, but when they see that no one else is in sight, one of them opens what looks like an ordinary locker and hurries the girls through one-by-one.

A dreamy musical score transports us to a place that perfectly illustrates the tag line, "Limited Too: It's a Girls World," as the girls apply lipstick, brush their hair, paint their nails, and laugh together. The composer of "Locker Spa" was Craig Marks and "Phone" was scored by Howard Pfeifer. The :30s, out of TBWA\Chiat\Day, Los Angeles, represent Groove Addicts' second round of creating music for the girl-oriented retailer. "It's all about capturing the essence of a world where girls rule," says Groove Creative Director Dain Blair. "We've had a lot of fun working on both this campaign and the previous spots, targeting a younger demographic."

In other spot news, the much-lauded Mitsubishi "Drums" spot directed by RSA/LA's Sam Bayer out of BBDO, New York, NY, received a boatload of press, including top billing on Shoot's Top Ten Spots in the August Music and Sound issue. Stewart Copeland's score for "Drums" has also been licensed for use on regional Mitsubishi Galant and Endeavor spots.

Rich Track Bolsters 50 Cent Feature

Groove Addicts was down for creating a custom orchestral and beat-driven score when chosen for Paramount's Get Rich or Die Tryin' trailer campaign for Paramount Pictures. The 2005 film, directed by Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot) and starring 50 Cent, is the semi-autobiographical tale of an inner city drug dealer who turns away from crime to pursue his passion for rap music.

Ignite Tracks Spread Like Wildfire

Over the past year, Ignite has emerged as one of the hottest collections in the Groove Addicts Production Music lineup. Launched in 2001 with just 328 tracks, Ignite has grown to 984 tracks this year. Created with promos in mind, Ignite's custom-sounding tracks have scored top placements in 2005 such as the trailer for "Yours Mine & Ours," with Rene Russo and Dennis Quaid and the TV series "Life on a Stick" as well as "Malcolm in the Middle." In the advertising realm, Ignite has fired up projects for Absolute Vodka, the Navy, Budweiser, Sizzler and Hewlett Packard, to name a few.

Ignite owes its burgeoning appeal to its diversity, which grows with each newly added track. Within the updated collection, producers choose from techno-rock, drama, comedy, morning show intimacy, news and many category-defying titles, all delivered in a format with hits at strategic cut down points to make producer's lives easier in the edit room.

Groove Cafe: Ninette From Powder Shows Audiences The Ropes

Vocalist Ninette of turbo band Powder -- and favorite vocal talent at Groove Addicts -- recently debuted "Ropes," an award-winning performance stage show integrating some of the acrobatic feats she's developed over Powder's four-year reign as one of LA's top bands. Check out the spellbinding "Ropes" show when it comes to your city!

Ninette has mesmerized crowds since early in 2000, when her voice grabbed the attention of acclaimed songwriter/producer Kenny Babyface Edmonds, who cast her to sing on live tracks for the "Josie and the Pussycats" movie. Her stage prowess inspired producers to hire Ninette to coach the film's actresses on performance skills. After logging long hours of classical vocal training with LA's top coaches, Ninette formed Powder, naming Groove Addicts' studio favorite guitarist Phil X her right hand man. (Catch Phil X jamming with Tommy Lee on AOL Sessions LIVE.)

Powder has appeared regularly at LA's House of Blues and has snagged top honors in the rock world, such as a 2004 nomination for "Best Rock CD", "Best Rock Video", "Best Live Performance" and "Best Female Vocalist" from the LA Music Awards. Ninette's matchless vocals have been featured on Groove Addicts projects such as a Barbie "My Scene" spot and a "Mercedes" "B" Klasse spot for Germany, plus countless radio IDs for stations such as WBMX in Boston, BBC Radio 2, Capital Radio in the UK and N-JOY Radio in Hamburg.
